The unit was officially
presented to Richard Newby, Production Services
Manager, BCE Cellular Extrusions by Paul
Neilson, Managing Director, Kestrel Building
Products on Friday 17 August and coincided
with a demonstration and presentation of
certificates to staff recently trained on
the use of the equipment.
Said Richard Newby; "The
installation of such a piece of equipment
may seem a little extreme to some, but the
safety of our 120 employees here at BCE
is paramount to us."
BCE is a member of the
Heywood Williams Group Plc, which owns some
27 companies in Britain and America. The
decision to install the AED's is a group
wide one. "BCE has an excellent Health
and Safety record and we intend to maintain
this," continued Richard.
The installation was supported
by St John Ambulance, said Julia Witter,
Marketing Manager, St John Ambulance Cheshire,
"BCE is amongst the first companies
to invest in the life saving equipment which
in turn supports the St John Ambulance 'Power
to Save Lives' campaign to increase awareness
of the importance of having AED's in easily
accessible places, whether at work or at
play."
" St John Ambulance
passionately supports the deployment and
use of AED's to be used before the arrival
of the ambulance - when you've only got
3-4 minutes then every second counts"
she continued.
